Engine Shed Cafe, Edinburgh

There is an appetising aroma as you get within range of this excellent cafe. Home cooked, organic, vegetarian - great sweets - and all at reasonable prices. Homely ambience created by wooden floors and rough hewn stone walls. Watch out for restricted opening times although it's now open on Saturdays for a stop in after cycling round Arthur;s Seat.

I'm not a vegitarian, but I love good food. And that's what you always get at the Engine Shed Vegitarian Cafe! That alone would sell it to me, but if you add on to that a beautiful setting ( its in a converted 18th century engine shed) great value and wonderful service it really is worth giving a try. They have just recently opened for breakfast on a Saturday and I tried it out last week...what a way to start your weekend! On top of all this, the Engine Shed is a new breed of business called a 'social enterprise'- this means that all of their profits go back into the community. For the Engine Shed this means creating training and real work for people with learning difficulties. So if you want to have a great time and do something good at the same time..give the Engine Shed a go..I think its fabulous.

Delicious and reasonably priced vegetarian food - mostly organic, I think - in a lovely gallery setting. Well worth a visit!
