This is another successful branch of the welcoming French-style chain, where the food is always well-prepared and reasonably priced. It is brimming with mirrors and Gallic art, and the atmosphere is casual yet bustling, set as it is on busy Frederick Street. The breakfast menu is excellent value and sets you up for the whole day. The extensive lunch and dinner menu offers everything from goat's cheese to seafood. If the weather is clement, you can pose and people watch whilst you sip coffee at one of the tables outside. The service is swift and courteous as well.
the service in this resturant was fantastic the best i have come across. the food was cooked to perfection and great value and the whole atmosphere was special and made it a great place to eat. Also the manager was great reconising we ate there 3 out of 4 days gave us bottle of wine on house please visit.
I've lived in Edinburgh all my life and Cafe Rouge has always been my favourite. Everytime, they offer great services, the atmosphere is always amazing and the food has to be one of the best in town!! It will always be my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh.
We visit Cafe Rouge several times on our journeys to Edinburgh. We have found it to be very accomodating to requests along with more than decent service and good food.
During the unfortunate rain out of Hogmanay a couple of years ago, the manager, knowing we were Canadian and knowing we had been disappointed by the turn of circumstances, warmly welcomed us.
On our last visit we found that our favourite waiter is now the manager. Good choice!
The most telling thing I can say is that we will continue to patronise this establishment on future visits.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I was today waiting for 3 friends who were coming from Spain to meet me. I asked a witer if I could seat in an specific table and he agreed. I waited at that table for 25 minutes because my friends' train from London was running late. At various times I was offered a drink and I politely declined. Then minutes before one of my friends arrived a couple arrived at the restaurant asking for a table and one of the waiters asked me to move to a table for 2 next to a door. I refused arguing that I had been waiting at my table, and did not see the reason why I should move. A very rude and totally unsuitable character for that job told to move. When I protested he shouted in front of everybody in the restaurant "GET OUT"
I find this behaviour very unbecoming, I asked to see the manager and this individual claimed to be the manager. Frankly, If this sort of bad manners is your trade mark, I feel you should be reported to the tourist council or any other institution that deals with service to the public.
Yours sincerely, M white.
