Castle Park
Description
Castle Park covers an area of 130 acres and is named after the impressive Bangor Castle that stands within its grounds. The park showcases a wide range of arboreal life, with trees from countries such as Australia, Japan, Spain and Austria. The most famous of these is now a mere stump located near the multiplex and is believed to be the spot where the Duke of Schomberg tethered his horse when his Williamite army landed at Groomsport in 1689. Many sporting events take place in the park, including a Circuit of Ireland rally stage, and various cycling and foot races.
