Horse's Neck Bar, Rio de Janeiro

More than just a hotel bar, the Horse's Neck Bar at Sofitel Rio has earned itself a reputation as a top-class watering hole in its own right. With great views over Copacabana beach, Horse's Neck offers a good programme of live music, delicious cocktails, and great food. The menu here is signed by celebrated French chef Roland Villard, who heads up the hotel's award-strewn restaurant Le Pre Catelan. Here he has put together a simple selection of tapas, hot and cold light meals, and bar snacks, which can be washed down with imported beers or tasty cocktails such as the Kilimanjiro, which mixes vodka with peach liquer, orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine. - Lucy Bryson
