Altos

Description

Located at the back of a famous old Belfast department store building, this bustling Mediterranean restaurant serves a great range of flavoured coffees. It also serves as a delicatessen. It is roomy and chic, decked out in bistro style with a fully licensed bar. Expect interesting modern cuisine accompanied by a palate-enhancing selection of wines and oils to take away. The food is cutting edge contemporary and a bottle of house wine will cost around GBP9. Classic wines are available for the connoisseur. Erdinger and Warsteiner beers are also served.

i go here every week and the standard is excellent, food service and hospitality, the individual personal touch has to be valued as belfast is becoming like a huge chain store

forgetful waiter
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/06
I visted Altos on a weekday luncthime, I thought our waiter seemed like he had just walked in off the street that day and started working without any training! My friend's food only arrived when I went in to ask about it (after half an hour) and was told by the dazed and confused waiter that he had 'forgotten to write it down'.Jeez, I don't have much experience of working in a restaurant but isn't that one of the most important things to do when you take an order? Desipte this, I enjoyed the food and we had a lovely table outside in the sunshine, so I probably will go back.

My new regular after shopping
By Robert, 2/2/06
Altos is a hidden gem in Belfast. I try to go every saturday lunch time, as their food is just fantastic and the atmosphere/decor is hip and jumping. They have innovative daily chef's specials: anything from black mussels in a thai sauce to a homemade beef and guiness pie. The Beef chilli noodles is a firm favourite on the ala carte menu.
