Beatrice Kennedy

Description

Beatrice Kennedy is a cosy fully licensed restaurant with friendly service, set in a converted Victorian town house in the university area of South Belfast. The impressive floodlit exterior sets the tone for this restaurant's extremely intimate atmosphere. It has a conservatory at the rear. Serving modern cuisine, expect to find deliciously surprising food combinations. The menu has a strong showing of seafood, including a delicious monkfish main course. This restaurant is open for evening dining only, except on Sundays when a substantial Sunday lunch menu is also on offer.

Amazing food and fantastic service. Dining in this restaurant is an absolute joy. Not expensive at all and as previous reviews mention, those on a budget can enjoy a delicious 2 course meal for £14. Can't complain at all!

Best Meal Out This Year
By ,
My husband and I recently tried Beatrice Kennedy on a mini-break to Belfast. We booked a table there based on the good reviews and good value I read about online, and I can gladly say it exceeded our expectations. The service was top notch (especially compared to Dublin, yech) and the amount of fine food we got for the price was unbelievable. My favorite thing had to be the pea and smoked haddock risotto starter - so so so good. I loved the look of the place as well (although note it is painted red outside now, not blue like the picture on this listing). Overall it was just such a wonderful, relaxed, special night out for us, I would recommend it again and again.

Amazing as usual!

This is my second visit to Beatrice Kennedys, both times the food has astounded me in quality, flavour, and imagination. For vegetarian options (it has its own veggie menu!) it is unrivalled in the whole of N.Ireland - and the chef should be proud of himself. This place has to be visited.

superb restaurant
By ,
the other reviewers of this restaurant don't seem to wish to pay for quality service and great food. Every restaurant has it's ups and down, but the several times I have been the service has been extremely attentive, and the quality of food excellent. The atmosphere is on the dark side, but that makes for a more intimate dining experience, the wine list is well researched and the staff are knowledgable. it is unfair to rate this restaurant badly simply because you are used to cheap and cheerful chain restaurants. at the end of the day you need to experience this place for yourself. one of my favourite restaurants, and in comparison to some places in belfast, it is good value, not cheap, but BK's is for special occasions, not casual dining.

Incredible Food!
By ,
I can't understand why people complain about the price of restaurants when it clearly states the cost on their website and outside the door. Anyway, Beatrice Kennedy. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday and I can confidently say, it was the most delicious meal I have ever eaten. And I mean that! We both had the ham hock and fois grais terrine to start. For main course I had the rib of beef - a slab of tender, juicy meat over an inch thick and the size of my face! We both finished with a delightfully presented sticky toffee pudding. It was just one of those meals that will live in the memory for a very long time. I can't WAIT for my next visit! We paid full price and it was only 90 for two of us, including 1 bottle of wine (20) and two glasses. I can't see how you can complain about that for such spectacular food and pleasant, knowledgable service. Oh, and we were both stuffed. No mean feat I can tell you that! BK's is the best restaurant in Belfast by a country mile. You won't be disappointed.

Overpriced
By ,
The food was fine, service a bit slow and the lighting inside a touch on the over-powering side. Then the bill came. Ouch. 75 for two people with a single pudding between two? Not good.

We wish we could go back but our next ...
By ,
Unfortunately, our next (twelfth) visit to Belfast will be on a Monday, and BK is closed on Mondays. What I can tell you is that of all the restaurants in which we have dined in various parts of the United Kingdom (including others in Belfast), many of which have been very good, Beatrice Kennedy's has unshakingly come out tops. The restaurant has consistently served the most delicious food, from the home-made soda bread, to the scrumptious starters, the mouthwatering main courses and the far from disappointing home-made desserts. The restaurant also posesses a very agreeable ambiance, both for couples and groups of people which together with the excellent service makes the whole experience very enjoyable indeed.

Excellent experience
By ,
I love Beatrice Kennedy and have been there a few times. The food is always great and the service is impecable. My advice to the chap below who is complaining about the price would be to look at the menu before going in to the restaurant. It is directly outside the front door and contains all of the prices. This is a good way of determining whether a meal will be within budget or not.

Mouth Watering

I always choose Beatrice Kennedy's for any special occasion. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful and the food is out of this world!!! Also for anyone who is on a budget, they can dine on the early bird menu or have a sunday lunch which is very reasonabley priced... I can not fault this restaurant at all!!!

Another horrible experience
By ,
We were charged 285 for a 3 course meal for 7 with one round of pre- drinks (3 of which were sparkling mineral waters) 2 bottles of wine along with the meal. The soup was just about warm, the wait between courses was about 45 minutes, servings were small, the coffee was tasteless, altogether I had a better canteen Christmas meal in work the previous day for 7.50. Not recommended, very very poor value for money and quality.
