Stables (The), Bangor

The Stables, located in Groomsport, a few miles round the coast from Bangor, is one of the most popular restaurants in North Down. There are many stylish features including the equestrian-themed sports bar, a beautiful outdoor terrace and even a library, where you are encouraged to get stuck into a favourite novel. Alternatively, spend a sunny afternoon in the conservatory and you'll almost believe you're in Italy or Spain. The food, meanwhile, is affordable and delicious: fine seafood is of course served, along with highly recommended chicken and meat dishes. A typical meal will set you back around £12-£20, while wines are available for £10 and upwards. Dessert and small meals are also served in the evenings when you can drop in without a reservation.
