Bath Boating Station, Bath

We spent a lovely day on the river at Bath. The rowing boat was great fun. My sister and nephew and my own daughter. Lots of laughts, stopped half way up for our picnic. Then at the Mill pub for a coffee. Beautiful day. Beware of parking, as I did, in Forester road or others nearby. We didn't see the notice at the start of the road and warnings of being a permit holders only zone further on were very sparce. I got a parking ticket! Slightly dampened the otherwise lovely day.

Located a bit off of the beaten track, the Boating Station offers an opportunity to see a beautiful and somewhat less traveled part of Bath from a different perspective. The boats are made mostly on site, traditionally by the family of the current or former owners with some more than a century old. Boats such as punts, row boats and canoes are available. One can spend a good afternoon heading upstream to a pub located by a falls then backtrack downstream to the dam near Bath’s center. The current is slow making a paddle in either direction easy. The operators of the Boating Station are very accommodating and personable.
