I have lived in New Hope for 20 odd years now and regularly visit restaurants there and in Lambertville, and have actually been to Marsha Browns on several occasions since it first opened. Mostly I would add as a guest because I would never choose to go there otherwise. The location and atmosphere are superb, both the bar and the restaurant are to die for, so it is such a shame that the food is really grossly overpriced, and I mean grossly, and absolutely to be avoided. Bar staff are great, restaurant staff are dreadful cartoon characters, big pushers more suited to a career in telemarketing, and embarrassingly over actors.
My last visit was paid for by my son-in law from CA, who found a good review somewhere on the internet and insisted on going there, I must say against my advice, and why I am writing this. I had the lobster, incredibly expensive, and a beet salad, also not too cheap. The restaurant was about 1/3 full with an amazingly high number of staff, so no complaints there.
The lobster I ordered was served cold when it was supposed to be hot; the beet salad was one slice of beet and a couple of strands of greens. I was incensed and really complained had all the staff there including the cook, bit embarrassing for the other guests. BUT the point is as I told them if you charge high end prices for the food for goodness sake serve decent food well.
My advice is just do not go to eat, but go to look at the murals in the restaurant, enjoy the décor, enjoy the bar and wonder how they went so wrong on the food.
