MUST SEE!!!!
By ,
Coming from a trraveling life style, I have spent my entire life in and out of museums. I have been to some of the most famous galories in the world, including the Prado, and i believe that the Reina Sofia is one of the best collections of modern art ever. The layout was easy to follow and the the collection itself is breath-taking. This museum is most assureadly worth your time and should be much higher on the to do list for yahoo.

Best of Madrid

This museum seems like a love it or hate it deal. What's not to love about original Dali and Picasso pieces? Some other reviewers would rather go to the park or complain about the parking? Whatever. Make this part of your trip; walking distance from Atocha train station. When I went in 2000 it was free admission after 2:30 on Saturdays.

Spectacular building and collection
By ,
Without question one of the most impressive modern art buildings in the world. The new wing designed by famed architect Jean Nouvel is slick,ultra-modern and pharaonic. The collection is especially noteworthy for its surrealist(Dali,Miro) and Cubist(Picasso,Juan Gris, ect).

This should be higher on your list
By ,
Reina Sofia is a great musuem. It holds many works by Dali, Miro and of course Picasso. The most important work being Guernica, which was made by Picasso to decorate the Spanish Pavillion at the World Fair in 1937. The museum is free on Saturday´s.

Surprise view
By ,
Excellent art gallery and it has a nice view of the city from the glass elevators. Now, you can't photograph any of the art work, even without a flash.

Better relax in a park
By ,
Maybe modern art is too complicated for me ;) but I think I liked maximum 3 pieces in the whole museum. It is a waste of time, space and money, even if the tickets were cheap. If I would be again in Madrid for the first time definetly I would not visit this museum, I'd rather stay in a park.(Retiro park is very close and very nice)

Waste of space
By ,
If you're a fan of modern art, this is the place for you. If not, don't waste your time. I fully considered this museum a complete waste of space and my money, however cheap the tickets were. I think that the art is completely useless and I was actually shocked to see one painting was merely a bunch of black dots. Don't waste your time at Reina Sofia, go to the Prado.

we hated it
By ,
people were mean, disrespectful, and rude. Need better parking space, and more restrooms. It was the worst experience I had ever had.I dont think many people would enjoy it.

Took my breath away!
By ,
The museum from inside and outside screams modern art. The prices are not expensive, and students, like i, can get in for even cheaper with an id card (and u dont have to go to school in spain, it could be ur id from wherever school in the world you attend). The 2 levels are art should keep you busy enough, but thats not all the museum offers, also including a cafeteria and a library. The museum is a great place to spend your time while in Madrid, you can see arts of work by Dali and Picasso, and be amazed by picassos large work of art "Guernica", and other artists work like Ponce de Leons "Accident." Overall, it was my highlight in the trip.
