More »Queen Elisenda, wife of Jaime II of Aragón, founded this monastery in 1326. 24 nuns still live here. The Thyssen Bornemisza collection is housed in the former dormitory. The other rooms — the dispensary, the kitchen and the refectory, which are open to public offer an insight into a medieval way of life. The San Miguel chapel walls are covered with mural paintings dating from 1343 and painted by Ferrer Bassa, a Catalan disciple of Giotto.
