Cervecería Catalana

Description

This comfortable beer hall, close to La Rambla de Catalunya and decorated in dark shades and varnished wood, is noteworthy for its Montaditos (small pieces of bread with tapas on top), and their Ensaladilla (like potato salad but better), which decorate the bar behind the glass. Their assorted menu of beers - domestic and imported - is also worth a mention. The service is excellent, and the staff, cordial and efficient. They also have a terrace you can enjoy all year round.

FANTASTIC
By ,
The best tapas ever. Was introduced to this place May 2007 - have booked another flight for a short break - just to return to Cerveseria Catalana - the memory of it never fades. Atmosphere buzzing and definitely well worth the wait - fantastic!

Loved It!
By ,
If you are looking for a great tapas experience this place is the one to go to. My wife & I were here back in August & loved this place. We were in Barcelona for only 5 nights and went here three of those nights. Everything from the food to the experience was perfect! AND, I should know good authentic catalan food. My mother is from this lovely part of Spain. Go here & you will love it! I want to open up a Cervecería Catalana in San Francisco (where I live).

Great for eating alone too
By ,
I ate here twice, at the bar, during a 4 day visit to Barcelona. I loved the food, the service, the price and the experience. It is the best tapas I have ever eaten -and the vino tinto and sangria were pretty good too. Not to be missed.

Must-go place

Loved everything about the place!! So much fun, the restaurant is constantly buzzing and the food is the finest tapas I've ever had (and I thought I'd had some good ones).

Can't leave Barcelona without a meal here!
By ,
I love this place. Open for lunch too, but If you're going for dinner make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment--or a long wait. Alternatively you can stand at the bar and enjoy the montaditos but I recommend the full menu at a table so you can enjoy at your leisure washed down with some of the many lagers available on the menu. I never go to Barcelona without at least a quick stop here for some food! A favourite with the locals, and a nice 10 minute walk up La Rambla de Catalunya, or Paseo de Gracia if you're coming from Plaza Catalunya.

Wish it was my local

This is the most amazing tapas bar - or a 2 week holiday we went 5 times. Sit inside for the best atmosphere - at the bar was our favourite. Lovely tapas - really reccommend it!

WOW!!!!
By ,
My friend and I just returned from Barcelona. One of the staff memebers at our hotel suggested this place. He said it was the best Tapas place. Well, he was absolutely right. We ate and ate and ate. I highly suggest you try the mini hamburgers. They are unbelieveable. We also had about 3 different shrimp concoctions. I wish I had taken a menu but I was too full to think straight. My friend got a half pitcher of Sangria and completely destroyed it. We had so much food and GOOD food at that. The only con about this place is that it's always packed. We waited for about 45 minutes for a table. Once we sat down and started eating, we realized that it was well worth the wait.

Good for Groups
By ,
This is a great place to go with a group of peaople, 6 or more. They have "Surtidos" which are "tasting" plates with a little bit of serveral types of tapas. Also, incredibly goos montadito de solomillo (beef filet). Fast and cordial service, great food. Crowded at the bar but that's because it's such a great place. =)

Does it get any better?
By ,
We both agreed that eating at cerveseria catalana was the highpoint of our weekend. every dish was a delight, the service was impeccable and the staff were polite and efficient (in the least boring possible way). I could go all dewy eyed and be even more sycophantic about the place but what's the point? I suggest you just live with the painful wait over a glass of Cava and eat there; especially those little steaks that someone else mentioned. Oh and I reckon we would have paid about 130 or more for such quality in London. Our bill for a tapas feast inc 2 bottles of really classy wine and various other alcoholic sundries came to about 75.
