Central Railway Musuem
Description
It's a comprehensive and well-executed look at the history of railway, not only in Russia, but other countries as well. Each large room is well kitted-out with intricate models of locomotives, bridges and tracks. Paintings, photos, memorabilia and items pertaining to the construction of the Russian rail system help reveal this fascinating story. There's even a metal box which contains the first Russian rail tickets, which were themselves metal. The last section of the museum is devoted to tourist travel. An old passenger train which visitors can walk through proves how people used to travel in style: just have a look at that velvet upholstery and the Art-Nouveau fixtures.
