On New Years Eve 1944 an event took place that changed the lives of all generations of St Peterburgers from then on. It was not war, though that still raged, but it was the Grand Opening of the Fairytale Theatre. The main purpose of the theatre is to create belief in kindness and humanity, to show that Good will triumph over Evil. The theatre has traveled to many countries with its twenty-three performance repertoire. It also regularly takes part in Russian and International Dolls Festivals, and has received a number of accolades. The theatre has many different performance genres, and some plays are played onto screens when the audience can see the actors openly taking part with the dolls. This creates a special world, unique to this type of theatre. In the huge foyer there is a dolls town and theatre buffet, where the audience can actually meet the dolls owners and operators, a truly magical experience for children.
