Red Square (Krasnaia Ploshchad'), Moscow

Awesome . Beautiful . So much history and culture in this place . The USA has no culture or history in comparison . I would highly recommend going to Moscow and visiting this place . I've been four times now and would love to go back . The horror stories ? I have experienced none , just use common sense and blend in with everyone else .

We didn't expect souvenier counters INSIDE St. Basil's, where we purchased a beautiful silk scarf. Do not miss the very beautiful souvenier/ Russian crafts in the small store in the side of the red brick Historical Museum at the end of the Square opposite St. Basil's. We also enjoyed watching the uniform inspections of the guards at the eternal flame to the unknown soldier, just off of Red Square in the park around the corner of the Kremlin Wall.

That place is definitely one of the most significant places in the world and anyone who has the chance should see. It is widely known as Red Square but it can also be called as Beautiful Square as the word 'krasnaya' means both. Don't miss the chance to be in that square that is besides Kremlin, great shopping center GUM and very close to official center of Moscow, Moscow River. Apart from these places, concentrate on the elegance and beauty of a masterpiece: St. Vasil Cathedral.

It was very interesting to see, I only seen Red Square on tv, seeing it in person was one of the best times I had. To walk there in person. Nothing to dislike about it.

Red square is great!! You can get to St.Basil's Church, Lenin's tomb , Goom and the museum from there! I went in Lenin's tomb, it was quite scary!! But well worth the visit!! Red square is a place you'll just want to go back to again and again!

After growing up watching the Soviet parades through Red Square, it was hard to believe we were standing in it. North gate rebuilt, so no more tank parades past Lenin's Tomb, but the lane lines are still painted on the ground. Large, about 6 blocks long, it's extremely impressive with Lenin's Tomb in the middle, and the execution stage opposite in the middle on the way to St. Basil's Couple of tips, Lenin's Tomb is only open T/TH/SA/SU 1000-1300. Get there early. As you walk through the North Gate, the National Historical Museum is on the right. Prehistoric to Russian Revolution. A must for History Buffs. Buy the Guide Book (200 Rubles) although it's only for the 2nd Floor (they haven't made one for the 3rd floor yet in either English or Russian). Also, if you're going to go to St. Basil's (which is also a must see) you can get a combo ticket for the Historical Museum and St. Basil's although a camera pass is extra, but good for both. Two definites in Moscow, Red Square & Kremlin.

As an American who came of age at the end of the cold war, and who loves history, and who sees shadows and nuances in almost everything...I loved Red Square. There have been many nights after dinners and clubbing that I would stop in the square and look up at the softly glowing red stars atop the buildings in Kremlin and admire this country. I would shiver as I remembered images of Nikita (I will crush you) Kruschev banging his fist, and the parades of military hardware that went across the square. I would smile as I remembered Zhivago, and I would wince thinking of the money that was spent and threats and horrors that occurred not far from where I stood. The cool, deathly silence of Lenin's tomb...the worn bricks on the square, the imposing walls of Kremlin...this should be a very very special place for those with a sensitivity to history and events.

The Red Square is perhaps one of the most well known features of Moscow and Russia. It contains a rather large square with the St. Basil's Cathedral in the near background and a memorial for Lenin in the near foreground. It is a nice opportunity to experience culture and history.

The Red Square presents the triumphs of the Soviet Union, we show it through pride and dignity that we have served our country loyaly and to our fullest capabilities. Anything less would be considered unworthy. I think it presents the determination of the Russian people, the artistery that we have to offer, that there is so much we can do.

I was blown away by my surondings. I just fell in love with every thing. The shopping senery and all the history. This a place that I wil remember forever.
