This massive building provides a good introduction to the ideas behind socialist realism. In this case, the sheer enormity of the structure has been muted (slightly) by the giant colonnade that runs down the front of it. The columns themselves were quite controversial at the time of construction, but the ideals of socialism meant that they got the go ahead. The building was designed by J.Grabowski, S. Jankowski and J. Knothe.
