Ulica Grodzka is older than the Old Town: in the 9th century, Grodzka was an area, which was located in the vicinity of Wawel Castle. The medieval city of Kraków appeared nearly 300 years later. Grodzka is lined with magnificent edifices, such as the two 13th century temples: the Gothic temple of Holy Trinity and the Romanesque basilica of St. Francis (Sw. Francisek). This is also where Kraków's oldest church - St Andrew's (Sw. Andrzej) - was built in 1090.
