The steps are extremely steep and there are many areas where you might bump your head. We watched a group turned away because small children are not allowed or not encouraged to climb the tower. You have a tour guide that climbs with you and provides a decent tour about the history of the church and the area. Once at the top the view is stunning and among the best in Amsterdam. A good way to look out over the Jordaan. This is not the best site or attraction in Amsterdam but it surprised me how enjoyable it was.

By travelcompany29 Take the time to climb the STEEP steps/ladders up to the middle of the bell tower. The views over the city are fantastic! Even though it's not one of the must-see of amsterdam the view from the top is worth the time and the pain to climb the narrow stairs.You can also hear the sound of the bells that Anne Frank used to hear when she was hiding.
