Tara Irish Pub (The)
Amsterdam has quite a few Irish pubs and this is one of the best. Located on the Rokin, the Tara is a trendy pub frequented mainly by tourists and Brits who have made Amsterdam their home. The interior is lovely with the highlight being an authentic fireplace to sit by during those long winter months. You can take the opportunity to play pool or watch premiership football matches on the TV. Musically, the Tara is a mixed bag. The live music, which can be enjoyed on most Saturdays, is generally folky American or Irish tunes, whilst on other nights you are at the mercy of the bar personnel. The food is good, and drinks are slightly more expensive than at other places, but the atmosphere is always friendly.
The service here is just great. The staff are happy and attentive. This was my first vist to Tara/Amsterdam/Netherlands and they were very patient as I went through first the drinks menu and then the food menu. Jen (I think that was her name) was especially good. Service with a smile and very sympathetic.
The staff are excellent and the quality of the food and drink matches this. I had a really great time and met a lot of people. Not the cheapest pub in town but definitely the best value I found in a 10 day stay.
This bar is superb.
I stayed in the Rokin hotel and this bar is 3 doors away. The bar stay open late. It has brilliant staff and great bands and is not too touristy or irish to make it unwelcome to non-irish people.

a German's heart beat faster. The pub turns into a party zone at the weekend, in which homesick Irish ...
Franco, the proprietor, certainly knew how to add that touch of the "Romagnola" (which never hurts) to this classic Irish
pub, where you can enjoy an excellent pint of Guinness. The result is a lively atmosphere where you can ...
