Reiger (De), Amsterdam

We read about De Reiger in Rick Steves' book, and found it without any problem in the cozy Jordaan district (which it also immensely enjoyable to stroll through before and after dinner). The restaurant is relatively small, @ 20 tables, so you should definitely make a reservation. Everything we orderd was simply sensational. The owner and waiters/waitresses were full of life and enhanced the whole evening. Even though we like to experience as wide a variety of foods and restaurants wherever we go, we had to go back our second night, and it was very difficult not to go back a third night in a row. You will not be disappointed.

We loved the coziness of the place which has been under the same ownership for 25 years.The waiter was friendly and the food just terrific. Not cheap but certainly worth what we paid. We'd go back in a heartbeat. JMR Jackson, MS/USA
