Restaurant November is a well-known restaurant on the sparkling Spui, in the heart of Amsterdam. You'll find lots of Dutch as well as international cafes and restaurants in this small area. The menu features mainly small snacks - Spanish tapas and salads - but you can also order a complete dinner. The food is high quality and is all made with fresh ingredients. Dishes have a distinctive French/Mediterranean quality. This place can be described as half restaurant, half cafe. The interior is characterised by wooden tables, lots of mirrors and plants and a very high ceiling. This is a popular spot amongst students.
I am taking my family to Iceland for a holiday in October 2010 departing from Singapore - at no time did we consider any other point of entry to Europe other than Amsterdam so we could retrun to November - Amazing food, Amazing sercice and cant wait to get back
I went to November with a group of girlfriends to celebrate a friend's wedding.
It was the most awful experience. The food was half warm, half cold and while potentially innovative actually just ended up being bad.
The worst part though, is as a large group (10 of us) we weren't allowed to pay by more than 4 debit / credit cards. We disputed this as we hadn't been told beforehand. At this point the experience really declined. We had all our cards put out to pay, the owner took these away from us and told us to pay by one card or he would not give them back. The male owner then hit one of my friends as she tried to remove her card. He raised his hand and slammed it on hers, causing a lot of pain. They then decided to put the chef on the door to block us leaving! At no point during any of this had we tried to leave or even say we wouldn't pay!
The owner would not accept the cards as he said the credit card company charged him for them, we offered to pay the charges but he still said no! This was a 500 Euro bill and we were happy to add the charges added by the credit /debit card companies.
So in summary, at no point did we dispute the bill, we wanted to pay. we offered to add the additional card charges to our bill and pay them but the owner still said no. I have never experienced something so petty, offensive or violent towards a group who were simply trying to pay their bill.
Do not go to this restaurant it was awful.
On our way to Five Flies we spotted the quaint restaurant November and decided to dine there the following night. However after reading the menu at Five Flies we decided we simply could not eat anything on offer so left and headed for November. We were immediately offered our choice of several tables and once seated our drink order taken. Unfortunately I did not like my glass of red house wine so ordered a different bottle. Our starters were well presented and tasted delicious. My wife ordered the red fish while I opted for crispy duck breast. Both were cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed. Deserts were equally good. The wine was not charged and the manager thanked me for my wine comments.
We were very grateful to be found a table in a very busy restaurant on Hogmanay. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by the owner and shown to our table, served by courteous staff and enjoyed a delightful meal both in presentation and quality. The experience was so enjoyable, we booked the following evening and received the highest standard of service. Therefore,we would certainly recommend 'November' and wish all, the best for 2008!
On our first night in Amsterdam we stumbled on this gem. We found it completely by chance as it was getting later for dining and hunger made the choice. Wow we sat up and took notice pretty quick Nice menu , good attentive service, nice ambience.Visited Tuesday 16 October and again Friday 19th (which was exceptional.)
Nice area, easy to find.
Do not miss !!
Thanks to this site, we went to the Restaurant November during our stay in Amsterdam. What a lovely place! The space is warm and romantic, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had the carpaccio as a starter, pangasius fish on a bed of black risotto as my main and creme brulee for dessert. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality of food. We had an absolutely wonderful evening here and I highly recommend it.
we booked this restaurant after reading the reviews on this site, we went there on valentine's day,
it was best food we've ever eaten, you must try the creme brulee its out of this world!the menu is easy to read and The staff are really friendly and welcoming, considering the beautiful layout of the restaurant and the quality of the food (excellent) the prices are reasonable.
we are looking to go back to amsterdam in the near future and visit this excellent restaurant.
we booked by email early, recommend you book in advance too!
The husband and wife team go out of their way to ensure you and your guests have pleasant dining experience.
The food is solid, creative and high quality fare. For me, it is the best value for money that I have found in Amsterdam.
The wine list is unglamourous but, again, excellent value for money and there are some interesting and solid choices.
It is now my regular stopping place for evening meals.
We were treated like royalty. The owner himself waited on us and made sure everything was just perfect. The food is well-prepared, well-presented, and delicious. The staff was hospitable, smiling, and most pleasant. We would recommend November without hesitation. It is a modest, nicely appointed, well-run oasis in the busy city of Amsterdam.
