Vini da Gigio, Venice

This place is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is excellant, and everything was expensive, but definately worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to go back to this place every day for the rest of my life!!!!!!!!!!

I ate at Vini da Gigio last August 2006. Having heard such great things, I expected a lot, and was disappointed. The food was good, not exceptional, certainly no better than some of the seafood pasta dishes I've had at less well-known trattoria in Venice for far less. If you want to spend more on the name, and get a good meal, then you'll like it, other wise not. As far as romantic, I did not find it to be so-pretty ordinary in that category.

This was my favorite restaurant during my 2 weeks trip to Italy in 2005. It is charming, on a small canal, and the food was excellent.

This was billed as an "elegant restaurant for a romantic evening". Actually, it was a somewhat cramped little restaurant that looked like a typical trattoria, with most of the customers in shirt sleeves. (April.) Having said that, the food was excellent - what we got of it. After the main chourse, the waiter vanished for about a half hour, so then we exited. Somewhat expensive.

After spending three times as much at the Osteria Da Fiore for much less food, we tried this gem one of the several nights in Venice by ordering four separate entrees. With a choice of both fish amd meat menus and great (but cheap) wine, it was a place I could eat 5 nights in a row and never run out of top notch food and service.
