Gioia Mia

Description

Don't be put off by the noise in this central and very pleasant pizzeria. There are classic pizzas and traditional Roman cuisine such as Pasta Cacio e Pepe or the delicious Pasta al Amatriciana and a limited choice of side vegetables lightly cooked with a little hot pepper (in the Roman tradition. They have a good choice of wines to accompany your meal.

Amazing!

Gioia Mia is a fabulous, genuinely Italian establishment. The staff is incredible, the food delicious, and the atmosphere very friendly. We went five times during our stay and enjoyed every meal. You cannot miss this establishment!

Great Food, Great Fun
By ,
Gioia Mia is an inexpensive, little, out of the way spot. We had so much fun there. The tables are lined up so close together it's almost family-style. We chatted with the Japanese girls one side of us and the Canadians on the other and the waiters encouraged the friendly atmosphere. To top it off the food was really good! It's been three months since we were in Italy and we're still talking about Gioia Mia.

YOU CAN'T MISS THIS FIND!
By ,
This restaurant epitomizes the heart and sould of Italy. Great homey food, charming service - you'll sit with the locals and any fortunate visitors who've stumbled across their cobblestoned alley. It's tiny - with a baby clothes line over their brick oven! Also, I just found out they have a sister restaurant in Philadelphia - can't wait to try it!

Simple and charming!
By ,
I truly enjoyed dining at this restaurant. The staff is friendly and doesn't rush you to make decisions about the menu choice. Everything I have had there was delicious, especially the antipasto bar. I will go there again and again!

Old habits die hard
By ,
I've been going to Gioia Mia since it was recommended to my father by a US Embassy attache during a family trip to Europe in 1985. Great food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and the wine label is to die for! :-)

Forget the Colosseum, go STRAIGHT to Gioia Mia
By ,
My fiancee and I visited this restaurant twice in our 3 night stay in Rome. I wish we had stumbled across it the first night, so we could make it 3 out of 3. The first night, I had the Spaghetti Carbonara - and it was truly magnificent. Different - not creamy like the Aussie ones are. My fiancee had the Amatriciana (sorry about spelling), which was also very good. For desert, I had an affogato (I think - some kind of ice-cream in coffee??) which was superb. The next time, I resisted the urge to have the Carbonara again, and instead we shared two mains, the Saltimbocca alla Romana, and the Parpadelle Gran Duca. Both dishes were incredible - we wished our stomachs would never fill. I had a great time practising my Italian with the staff, who were all so happy and attentive - and patient with my broken Italian! Next time I go to Rome, I will be selecting my accomodation specifically so I can be close to this restaurant. Shame the scale only goes to 5, because for value, taste, atmosphere - this place gets at least a 42 out of 5.
