Forget the Colosseum, go STRAIGHT to Gioia Mia

My fiancee and I visited this restaurant twice in our 3 night stay in Rome. I wish we had stumbled across it the first night, so we could make it 3 out of 3. The first night, I had the Spaghetti Carbonara - and it was truly magnificent. Different - not creamy like the Aussie ones are. My fiancee had the Amatriciana (sorry about spelling), which was also very good. For desert, I had an affogato (I think - some kind of ice-cream in coffee??) which was superb. The next time, I resisted the urge to have the Carbonara again, and instead we shared two mains, the Saltimbocca alla Romana, and the Parpadelle Gran Duca. Both dishes were incredible - we wished our stomachs would never fill. I had a great time practising my Italian with the staff, who were all so happy and attentive - and patient with my broken Italian! Next time I go to Rome, I will be selecting my accomodation specifically so I can be close to this restaurant. Shame the scale only goes to 5, because for value, taste, atmosphere - this place gets at least a 42 out of 5.
