Angelino ai Fori, Rome

This is my second visit to Angelino and I truly believe a trip to Rome would not be complete without it! Although the atmosphere and service here is great the main attraction has to be the delicious food from a varied menu which has something for everyone - I can't wait until my next visit!

We had a great time at Angelino. The food was terrific and so was the service. However, it's not the place for a quiet dinner. It's loud and you are almost sitting with the people at the nearby tables (literally knee to knee). It's alot of fun and I will go back when we return to Rome.

To start out with the waiter we had hardly did anything at all, except tell his inferiors to do all the work. Cigarette smoke was everywhere and we felt very unattended to, again the waiter. We were so much in a hurry to leave that we did not even realize that we had underpaid the bill. However, looking back they deserved even less than our original underpayment of the bill. Would not go there; do not be fooled by the attractive vines and nice look of the restaurant, it is truly not worth going to.

I have been to the best restaurants in Rome, and I have been to Rome many times myself. So I can pretty much distinguish bad from good food/service in Rome. Its a known information that for the authentic good Italian food you MUST AVOID all the restaurants around Colosseum. However, this particular restaurant 'Angelino ai Fori' has out ranked them all as the worst restaurant! I went there a couple of days ago with a friend of mine, just to give her good impression of italian food, starting from there, BIG Mistake (I know)!.. My friend practically didnt eat anything. She had ordered 'Scampi'..while in her plate there were just bones fishing, the fish itself was missing and the side dishes ..what can I say, we didn't eat them at all! The service you can see immediately that is poor... In the end regardless of our dissatisfaction all they were thinking about was the money. There were no regrets what so ever and above all they were defensive (not excepting any critics/feedback). This was for me by far the worst restaurant experience I had in Rome! Not recommended at all! This restaurant (Angelino ai Fori) and pretty much all restaurants around Colosseum are tourist rip offs.

This was "our place" while in Rome. We stayed a few blocks away and just kept coming back here to eat. (5 times in a week.) We visited during the summer, so the ivy covering shielded us from the sun and made a lovely place to relax and cool off. The food is excellent (my favorite was this eggplant sandwich on foccacia, while my husband couldn't get enough of the Pollo alla Romana) and the service impeccable. Can't wait to go back to Rome to visit the place my husband refers to as "our buddy's."
