Giardino di Boboli
Inside this garden lies the Buontalenti grotto (1583-1593). Decorated with Mannerist-style scenes from Greek and Roman mythology, the grotto includes copies of Michelangelo's famous Slave series, the originals of which were transferred to the Galleria dell'Accademia. In the 17th Century, the garden was extended as far as the Porta Romana, adding the Vasca d'Isola (pond) at the centre with a fountain and a statue of Neptune. In the late 18th century, Zanobi del Rosso built the Kaffehaus pavilion.
Dont miss this place. Its a nice break from the crowds and museums. The palace is every bit as ornate in art as the Vatican in Rome. This is a quiet, peaceful oasis with rich history and beautiful gardens!
The palace/museum is one of the best in Florence! The gardens I thought were a little run down, and for the 8 euro per person charge, i expected it to look more like the "jardin du luxembourg" in Paris, which is beautiful and free..... I actually think that Central Park in NYC is a lot nicer than the boboli gardens.
the one good thing about the garden though, is that if you are tired from touring all day and do not have the time or energy to bicycle or bus out of the city to the countryside, this is a great respite, to sit, enjoy the views and read "A room with a view" by E.M. Forster
Was there summer 2001. Maybe it's improved since. We thought the place was run down- not much going on- you "got" the general idea of what the gardens were like when planned- but flower beds were overgrown, fountains were green with algae- not much going on horticuluturally. Is that a word?
Last spring I visited my sister in Florence and Boboli Gardens was absolutely beautiful. After walking around for awhile, we just sat in the grass and had the most beautiful view. It was amazing to see everything inside and equally amazing to just sit and stare.

GREAT!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoyed it hope others adore it!!!!!
My husband and I went to the gardens as an after thought after trying to get into the art galleries and museums (all of which had extremely long lines), but what a surprise! We had the most relaxing time enjoying the beautiful gardens. The water fountains and the gardens were very beautiful and view of Florence was amazing. We highly recommend spending a couple of hours checking it out.
The Boboli Gardens were the first place we went in Florence. The view from the top levels of the garden is amazing. Make sure you leave plenty of time to wander through the gardens as there is something to discover in every nook and cranny. Also, I would recommend seeing the Gardens early in the day and then taking a break. There is a lot of stairs and uphill climbs that are likely to wear you out. Definitely worth the time and energy!!
This beautiful open park belonged to the Stibbert family who owned the adjacent villa, now home to the Stibbert Museum.
It was designed by Giuseppe Poggi in the Romantic style, in accordance with English tastes, and is spread out ...
Renowned for its panoramic views of Florence and the Arno valley, this terrace is a popular spot with locals and
tourists. Created as part of major restructuring of the city walls, Giuseppe Poggi's sumptuous terrace is typically 19th century. ...
The Memorial is a beautiful spot amidst wooded slopes, near the Greve River and approximately 5 miles from the historic
