Description

This restaurant's attractive menu and unusual decor of frescoes and bare brick walls are all part of its popular appeal. Food is so wonderfully presented that it seems almost a shame to touch it, but worse still would be not to taste it at all. If in doubt what to go for, just try a bit of everything!

Nice dessert!
By ,
The interior of the restaurant is very nice. The service is good but quite slow. We waited for a long time before the food finally came. The food is good but not impressive. I had a Florentine steak. It is ok but a little dry. The chocolate tart there is very very nice! It is rich but not too filling.

Disappointing
By ,
Maybe they had an off night, but we came here over Easter and were very disappointed by food that was very average and very poor service. If you are expecting good ingredients expertly cooked with a minimum of fuss then don't come here. Too many extras on the plate that added nothing, unexciting ingredients poorly cooked. The carpaccio was tasteless, the spaghetti tasted as if it had been kept warm too long and the veal was smothered in a cloying sauce. The decor looks dated and the service was overbearingly camp. Go to La Vecchia Bettola in Oltrarno instead - you will have more fun, save money and eat far better

Great, great place
By ,
Best food in the best place of firenze. The ambiance is very good, but the food is really great. You should taste the spagetti magnifico and the steak with tartufo &advocate. Wines are also very good, we take a chianti castello di ama and a great rosso di montalcino

One of the best experiences in Florence
By ,
The food, atmosphere waiters and chefs (who you can hear singing and pounding veal in the kitchen) is top notch. This is by far one of the best dining experiences in Italy. It was recomended by a local who indicated that if he could dine anywhere in the City - that Garga's is where he would choose to go. He was right.

Expensive!!
By ,
Make sure you have your wallet full because this could be your most expensive meal in the city. Food is average and the staff obviously has their favorite clients. There are many other great meals in the city for a fraction of the price.

Wow-Magnifico
By ,
I just love this restaurant. I had the pasta magnifico and what can I say, it was magnificent. All our meals were great, steak, veal, pasta. I liked the wine list - they had my favorite, Brunello di Montalcino. The waiters were great as well as the service. We will be back in Florence in early February and plan to dine here again.

Best Restaurant in Florence
By ,
This restaurant came recommended to me by some of my italian friends (I studied in Flornece for 5 months) and this is a small restaurant that is constantly alive with singing and laughter from the guests and waiters alike. This is the type of restaurant and dining experience that we as Americans envision when we think of Italy. Not to mention the food is arguably the best in all of Italy (it's tied in my mind with an establishment named Golden View Open Bar). It's worth flying to Florence just to eat there.

What a wonderful place
By ,
What I liked: EVERYTHING! The food (now that is gourmet at a reasonable price!) the ambiance, the wonderful people who work there, the art on the walls. What I didn't like... I can't think of anything.

Wonderful experience!
By ,
Loved the food! Decor is great - not what you would expect in Old World Florence. We had a wonderful waiter, very friendly and funny. Menu was full of great choices and everything we had was delicious. We are visiting Florence again this summer and will most definitely visit Garga again.
