it's that good!
I just finished 2 weeks eating my way through Italy and Il Latini definitely ranks as the #1 and #2 meals of the trip. Yes, I went there twice in my three days in Florence. While that might sound a littel strange, there were two other tables there on my second night that were also there on my first night.
The food is traditional Tuscan cuisine, and is unbeatable. Definitely try the ribollita, it's wonderful. I was a little unsure when the local I did not know, sitting next to me, (at my table) recommended it, afterall it's just vegetable soup. Wrong, it is soo much more, a treat! All the pasta dishes are terrific and the meats are fantastic. Defnitely try the beef, fillet, and/or the lamb. Don't waste your money on the wine list, the red wine on the table is just fine. Go with the prix Fixe and don't ask for a menu. When the waiter asks if you want Proscuito and Melon, say, "yes" and let the fun begin. The Prix Fixe price is 40 Euros a person these days, but it was still one of the least expensive meals I had in Italy. If you are lucky enough to sit near Joseph Amalo (a local regular) you will be in for an extra special treat.
