This homely trattoria par excellence has a regular clientele who come here almost everyday to eat its exquisite dishes at their usual table. You mustn't miss out on the fried meat dish (fritto), which is so light you could carry on eating it forever. The soups are also good (especially the grain soup), as is the boiled beef, the roast meets, and the fish which is usually served on Fridays. The restaurant is simply decorated and welcoming and the house wine is very good.
Came by accident and ended up returning two nights later. Superb authentic Tuscan food. Nice wine list. Great friendly service - especially if you get the owner's wife. Seafood lasagna, bistecca fiorentina, ribbolita - everything is home cooked, fresh and plentiful. Decor is non-existent but not offensive - plain white walls. We went to far more beautiful restaurants in Florence but none with food like this.
We were in Florence for a month and had an apartment around the corner from Acqacotta. We ate there several times and always had exceptional meals. The couple that own the restaurant -- he is the chef and she is the hostess/waitress -- were friendly and made us feel very welcomed.
The owners of this little restaurant did everything they could to make our dinner special. They served the most delicious vegetable terrine that was light and flavorful. I loved the dessert, a gelatin/creme cup served on a chocolate swirl. Of all the restaurants we ate in on our 10 day trip to Florence and Rome, this was my favorite. I would eat there often if I lived in the area!
Local exquisite cuisine in a stark, white-walled, checkered-table cloth atmosphere. Our waitress was wonderful, but somehow we received our food ten minutes after several other parties who were seated after us- a bit frustrating. Acquacotta focuses on the flavor of the food, not the atmosphere or dining experience persay.
