Trattoria dei Quattro Leoni, Florence

My friend who has lived in Florence for years took me there; it was a mom and pop osteria, and still retains the rustic beauty of old Florence--thank you! I had the most amazing baked polenta with gorgonzola and pappa al pomodoro cooked perfectly the old fashioned way. Reasonably priced and traditional yet creative food. The kind of food that makes you want to cry out from joy. And the ambience is festive as well as romantic. Auguroni!

Fiochette Pasta, Fiochette Pasta, Fiochette Pasta ! Excellent hideaway from the main drag, lovely little square, food excellent. Just a lovely place to eat, enjoy !

My friend & I loved this place. We were told to go there 'if you like good food' by another couple at a fairly ho-hum restaurant - they were so right! We ate outside on one evening in the little courtyard, and loved the food so much we went back for lunch the next day. We just squeaked in as they were starting to close down, but they happily said yes, they could fit us in (just), smiled, and graciously gave us a table and dished up a plate of the fiochette al pera to both of us. Fiochette pasta was stuffed with cheese & pear, served in a creamy cheese sauce with tiny bits of asparagus. I had rhapsodized so much over it to my friend that she wanted to eat it too, while I was thrilled to have it a second time. Everything was just wonderful and I can STILL taste that pasta. I ate at a lot of good places in Italy - that pasta was the best of anywhere, and it's good value for money.

I can very enthusiastically recommend Quattro Leoni for any visitor to Florence. Friendly service, innovative food, fun atmosphere. It was a positive experience all the way. We got involved in pleasant conversation with people at 2 other tables - a family from Kansas City & a couple from Canada. At the end of the meal we were given a complimentary glass of limoncello. Perfect ending to a memorable dinner!

Everything was soooo good here the beefsteak Florentine feeds four. And the prices were great. The only big expensive thing was the mineral water. Make sure and visit their website to make a reservation. Also, try the appetizer's all were fantastic. If you go early like 6 pm it's easier to get a table.

my wife and i just loved absolutely everything about your restaurant. atmosphere,food,service everything is just right. we will defiantly tell all of our friend that it a must to go and eat at "Trattoria" two words "THE BEST" we will be back!

We were staying around the corner in the Palazzo Belfiore and stumbled onto this place. It was the best food, best service and best value we experienced in our two week trip to Italy. Great outdoor seating in a little piazza. Proves my wife's theory that the farther from big hotels and big piazzas you go, the better the experience. The fiochetta with pears and asparagus was unbelievable.

4 Leoni was recommended to us by a shop clerk. We went for lunch two days in a row. Our server was fantastic. She patiently described each menu item to us and also to all the tourists sitting near us as well. Had some of the best food of my life! If you go you must have the fiochetti stuffed with pear.This was the best place we went to on our tour of Venice,Florence,Rome and Lake Maggiore. Prices very reasonable, too!

We went there Christmas Eve---without reservations. We were politely asked if we would promise to be out in 2 hours to make room for reserved spots and we of course agreed. I had a risotto with octopus---it was as tender and tasteful as any dish I've ever had. Period. The 'vino locale' that our waiter recommended was a superb match. Similar experiences were had by my wife and 2 daughters, (one of whom lived in Florence for a year and who never found a better place to dine before or since.) We went back (with reservations) on New Year's Eve and the only thing that was not as good was our waiter who simply was not as friendly and efficient as was our first waiter.But the food--from bistecca to zabaione--was spot on.

Nice outdoor setting in a small piazza. But service was very rude and the lunch menu extremely limited. We could not wait to leave, although it took quite some time just to get the attention of a waiter.
