It belonged to the O'Hynes and Martin families over the years, and was a favorite meeting place for many literary revivalists. Banquet Evening

Myself and my husband went to the Banquet in the evening and were very impressed. Although a little expensive, the food is good and the entertainment is of a high standard. Look out for Paudi the young butler who has a truly wonderful talent. The only downside to the banquet was that we wern't able to browse around the castle but were restricted to the banquet hall and the loo. In saying that, you wouldn't want to get up off your seat as you would be sure to miss something... Highly recommended none-the-less.

We enjoyed DunGuaire Castle and the Town of Kinvara very much. Not only that but we met a relative at the castle named who gave us a tour. We can't wait to go back.

Another Tower Castle

The country side is littered with these square tower castles, similar to this one or Blarney. Dunguiaire has been rennovaed and maintained to look like it did 4 hundred years ago, and in that sence it is unique. It isn't simply a stone shell like many of them. There is also a banquette hall where dinner is served. We just walked around the grounds, but you can take the tour inside and there should be lovely views from the top.
