HOMOPHOBIC STAFF, NOT A NICE THING TO WITNESS: Two male students ejected from Cork bar 'for kissing' Monday, August 22, 2011 - 06:11 PM Two male Cork Institute of Technology students were allegedly thrown out of a bar in Cork city on Saturday night for kissing on the dancefloor. They say they were approached by a bouncer at the Old Oak on Oliver Plunkett Street and issued with a warning after sharing a brief kiss. They later kissed again on the dancefloor and claim security told them to leave at that point. When contacted by Cork's RedFM this evening, one of the students said that he is seeking legal advice, while the Old Oak said there was no manager available to comment at this stage.

It's a cosy bar, nice to sit close to the fireplace. BTW I am irish, not a tourist. We were told food service starts at noon, it was already 15 minutes past noon. Getting a toasted sandwich there was like trying to get blood from a stone. We got the impression that they didn't want to serve us the food. They could barely find a menu and acted like they were doing a favour. They should just stick to serving drinks and stop having a food menu as it's cleary an imposition on them. If I was a tourist I would have walked out.

I like the back bar... good bartenders... they have good music, a nice dance floor, small but decent. it plays more towards the older crowd. It gets very crowded though

what a place for chicks man. somthin in the air in there i'm telling you. as soon as you walk in the door there is guarenteed to be a chick in there undressing you with her eyes. its so good one of my buddys thought it was a brothel but on consultation with bar staff he determined that it was in fact just a regular bar with loads of hot willing chicks who are all like coors light......they go down easy!!!! giggiddy! its great if you drive on the wrong side of the road too. they all hang out in the toilets. great bar man!

As an American I was aware of the rudeness of the locals to the tourists! We Americans have financially supported Ireland for a long time and this is what I get for spending my hard earned dollars in Ireland? Found a shard of glass in my drink. Not happy with the service there.

The last time I was at this pub I found the service less than acceptable! I was waiting at one of the bars and the barmen constantly served other people that had lined up after me. They made us feel like ordering a drink was an effort for them. Not looking forward to going back.

What can you say, just a great pub. Live music 4 nights a week, never any trouble and a great atmosphere. Oh, and of the late bars, its by far the cheapest

I loved the bar staff! They're all real friendly and the service is superb! The place itself is always warm and very homely. The live entertainment is fantastic!
