Family-run and set in its own lush grounds, Lovett's is an elegant restaurant located ten minutes from Cork airport and the city centre. Expertly prepared fresh seafood dishes are a speciality and vegetarians are well catered for too. Menu highlights include: panfried polenta with wild mushrooms and creme fraiche, sirloin steak with caramelised onions, served with a pepper sauce or garlic butter, and panfried venison with spiced oranges in an apricot brandy sauce. The wine list is extensive, and there's also an excellent selection of Spanish brandies. The recently opened brasserie lends the atmosphere an informal air, while the staff are friendly and efficient.
This is a lovely restaurant. The food was beyond compare, we had a wonderful monkfish dish and a perfectly done steak. The service was ideal; no one was hanging over us, but they were there everytime we needed anything. The wine selection is very nice and will not leave you wishing for anything more. The atmosphere is very casual yet elegant. We had a little bit of trouble finding the restaurant, but it is well worth the hunt. You could not be disappointed with this as a dinner choice.
For an excellent meal in a classy, yet homey, environment, try Lovett's. The staff is very attentive, and you're likely to meet one of the proprietors. In an age when so many restaurants have lost the personal touch and commitment to quality, you'll recognize that Lovett's retains the high standards of an earlier era as soon as you enter. It's not inexpensive, but the value is high. This is a place where memories are made.
