Microwaved food anyonbe?
First of all, the ambiance on this place is good, one of the wait staff despite her inexperience was pleasant but another wait staff appears to be very confrontational when critiqued about the way the food was served. Apparently, almost all the dishes served in Cafe Mexicana, this according to the confrontational wait staff are microwaved. So if you fancy overpriced, supposedly authentic mexican food that are microwaved, then Cafe Mexicana is for you.

Delicious!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/08
As someone who lives in Mexico City I can assure you won’t find a better, more authentic Mexican restaurant. There was a great choice of tasty dishes for the eight of my friends to chose from. The only thing I didn’t like about the night was the weather outside but I’m back to Mexico tomorrow for that!

I've been there 5 times in 3 months!
By B., 10/10/08
I am a Texan and I can assure you that no Corkian is being fooled here! Great wait staff, authentic tasting food.....I dont have to go back to Texas nearly as often to get good Mexican food. I am not sure what the other writers consider Mexican food but I'll bet they've never even been there! LOL Try it...you'll like it! The fact that every time I go there its crowded should tell you that something special is going on there!

Left a Bad Taste
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/10/08
The food was quite awful, it took too long to come out and some of the food was cold when we got. Our waitress was very nice, but she still couldn't make up for the obvious faults.

A rip off and a fake
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/07
Mexico is a long way from Cork. Thus it is easy to cheat the good-faith Corkonian into believing that Cafe Mexicana is a decent Mexican restaurant. It is a mediocre -- at best -- eatery with an overpriced menu and awful service. Nachos are served so overheated that are soggy -- they are supposed to be served crispy and crunchy, from the top to the bottom-most one. The beef salad is a mix of blant lettuce, overcooked potatoes, and badly seasoned grilled meat. Fajitas are served with excessively warmed tortillas that are so dry that they begin to crack as you try to wrap your food in them. The service is spotty -- at its best. Our waitress came to our table once to take our order and once to bring our plates. She never came back to see if there was anything that we needed. At the end, our party of four paid 85 Euros for 4 entrees, one marguerita (that is a generous serving of the non alcoholic mix with a drop, perhaps, of tequilla), and one Corona.

Mind the Nachos
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/07
Fantastic...what a find a truely original cuisine not blanded out by commercialism.Top notch service and fast turn around by keen and enthusiastic staff.Price reasonable but adviseable to book to avoid disappointment. Jalepeno loaded nachos were fantastic. I hope to revisit.

Don't take small children here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/07
Service was slow, waitresses too busy chatting to each other than serving us. One called our son a little brat, despite us spending 50 euros on a lunch in an empty restaurant. We won't be going back.

Excellent restaurant!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/07
This is a great restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the chicken fajitas. The margaritas are expensive, but delicious. To americans, it's perhaps not the taste of mexican that their used to, but go there with an open mind. It really is a nice place :) Yes I know it's a bit pricey, but most restaurants in Ireland are.

Overpriced tomato soup!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/07
For North Americans, this restaurant's cuisine was both uninspiring (tortilla soup tasted like Campbell's tomato soup) and expensive for what it was. We had a modest lunch (enchilada and bowl of soup with a beer and a lemonade) and it cost 40 Euros! Won't be going back to this one in a hurry.
