This wonderful pedestrian-only street runs from Vorosmarty ter all the way to Vamhaz korut and the beautiful Market Hall. It is bisected near the Elizabeth Bridge (where there is an underpass)-this is the point where the pedestrian section used to end but a few years back a second section was made pedestrian as well. While the first section is lively and popular, the new area has more charm and authenticity. Together, they are both truly European: dozens of cafes, fancy shops and boutiques and some truly stunning architecture. Don't forget to look up as you stroll down Vaci utca - some of the façades are truly amazing.
I visited here during the Easter eve. It is a good place to buy souvenirs as there are a lot of shops on the both sides of the street. Things including Easter eggs, folk dolls, crystal and wooden craftswork can be easier found.
Apart from shopping, there is a classical fountains in the middle of the square. At the end of the street, there is an open area, in which there will be open stores or market. In Easter, the Budapest Spring Festival was held, and there were a number of open stores selling special Easter items and food there. It was a nice experience to me.
I recomment it to people travel to Budapest. I think you can spend one to two hours here for shopping and walking around.
Vaci utca is a lot of fun to tour and walk down. It's especially pretty at night. The shops are expensive, so I wouldn't suggest actually buying anything here, but it's fun to look in the stores and see what they have, and it has a great Hungary atmosphere, with travelling musicians who frequent the streets.
