Cyrano, Budapest

On saturdays, Cyrano has a menu for less than 20 euros, with 3 options. The restaurant has one star at Michelin, but I didn't like it.

My partner and I went to Cyrano twice in one day - once for lunch and once for a dinner. We both eat in good restaurants often, but Cyrano is one of our biggest disappointments. The lunch was nice, however the service wasn't particularly good. They charge a $5 AUD service fee per person and don't even bring you a bread with olive oil or whatever else...you say that your Coke is warm they don't even bring you a new one and take 10 minutes to bring you some ice...what are they charging the service fee for then? The dinner was worse - the food wasn't good, the flavors below average, our pork fatty, and costing 5 EUR more than lunch time but not for a larger or a better portion. The waiter didn't bother to even ask whether we were satisfied with our meal...and after paying asked whether we want our change back (how rude, shouldn't he just wait and take whatever is left as a tip?) Cyrano might look like a classy restaurant, but it isn't. With its inconsistent food and bad service I would rate it 2-3 from 5.

Unfortunately, this place looks much better than it tastes. Service is pretentious and not warm, making you feel that the waiters hesitate to serve you as a bouncer would hesitate to let you in when you don't dress the part. Food is mediocre, and not worth the price they ask for. Good points ? Style and location. Great terrace. Go without too much expectation.

Cyrano has completely touched my heart – not just my stomach - and won me over with excellent food and customer service. It was a rainy night Dec 2007 in Budapest, we were hungry, cold and had only 40 minutes for dinner. We were initially turned away by front desk staff who said 40minutes was too rushed for a meal. (a MAJOR mistake by the front desk staff for underestimating the kitchen). we walked away to look for an alterantive place. however, we decided to return and decided that perhaps 40mintes was enough for a soup! We were amazed and elated about what happened next. the waiter and the service was excellent once we stepped inside. We told the waiter we only had 40 minutes. he gladly made some recommendations and we had a soup each (2 of us), PLUS a main course! The chef's skill and kitchen set up are unbelievable, having managed to churn out a 5 star 2 course meal in barely 20minutes! (eat your heart out, Gordon Ramsy!) I take my hat off to the kitchen, chef, waiters for this especially for looking after the needs of your customers. You rate 5 star in customised service excellence. Thank you! Food notes: the duck liver soup was gorgeous (a tad bit salty) but that didn't stop me from finishing it! Portions are very generous, which makes we wonder why other reviews say the cost is high as there is value for money given the excellent and large portioned food. The pasta was very good and the chicken too. other tables ordered the beef shank which looked awesome. Kudos to Cyrano. if i ever come back to Budapast, i'll have my meals there - albeit with less of a rush!

I liked the food, surrounding and service. Looking forward to go there again sometimes. I tell all my friends to go and eat there if they are going to Budapest. Best regards

Cyrano has for a long time been my favourite restaurant in Budapest, and I go there every time visiting the city. A nice menu with good choices and a menu with many different choices from continental-indian chicken, traditional hungarian courses and typical french courses. A very nice crossover. Even though this restaurant is a bit more expensive than the regular restaurants in Budapest, it's still worth the money. The service is good, but sometimes the waitors look like they are smiling because they have a gun pointing at their back. They all give very good service, but it doesn't seem to come quite easy.
