The Alsterpavillon is now run by the Alex chain and boasts folding glass walls, ten open-plan kitchens and space for concerts, exhibitions and functions for up to 800 people. The original pavilion was built in 1799 and has always been popular with day-trippers, shoppers and sun worshippers. Located opposite Jungfernstieg shopping street, this is a great place to stop off for a coffee, beer or cocktail. The views over Lake Alster are fantastic, the prices accordingly steep.
