Krumme Lanke, Berlin

I used to be stationed in Berlin when I was with the US Army, and happened to be lucky enought to live adjacent to the krumme lanke in the Berlin Brigade housing area with my wife as it was known at the time. The was a great beach along the lake, and it was a great place to go swimming during the summer. One thing that must be taken into account is that clothing is optional at this or any other beach in Berlin. And totally free. There were some vendors that would come around with food if you desired, but they weren't obtrusive, and there were plenty of resturants to go tom in the area. I also rember going to the walking trails around the lake, specifically on weekends, and had a great time just walking around with the citizens of Berlin, as they seemed to outnumber the Americans many times over. It was really a great time to be in a great place and I miss it.
