The original Prater is in Vienna, yet the Berlin version is equally lively and immensely popular. Berlin's oldest beer garden serves up rustic German food, which you can enjoy in the loveliest of surroundings. The complex also has an open-air stage which is used by the Volksbühne, one of Berlin's most inventive theater companies. This place offers inexpensive beer, so come by and enjoy the long summer days with some drinks and friends.
We happened upon the Prater beergarden late in the afternoon on a sunny late May day. It was absolutely perfect-stone cold lager pints, warm wooden benches, and the world's best potato salad. Families came with their children, people came after work, and we stayed until the lights came on. A delightful, homey treat!!
