Let's face it, people don't come to Paris Bar for the food alone. Many come just to rub shoulders with Berlin's high society and to gaze at the celebrities. Paris Bar's real charm comes from its unusual combination of simplicity and elegance. The decor is homely, yet many guests are dressed up as if they were going to a ball. Many come before or after a show at the nearby Theater des Westens. All drinks are meticulously prepared and accordingly pricey. Main dishes range from EUR10-EUR25 and wines start at EUR20 a bottle.
Unfortunately, I cannot write a review about the food, service or ambience as we never got in!
I made a reservation four weeks prior to arrival and confirmed the booking four days prior. However, upon arriving, we were told by a smirking owner/manager that a private party had the entire restaurant for the night. No apology - in fact, he compounded his arrogance by suggesting that we go in anyway, pretend we were part of the party and abuse the free bar!
Clearly, the private party had organised the restaurant 2/3 days prior to the day and all other customers with reservations were tossed aside. Avoid at all costs!
