Hackescher Hof, Berlin

Located at the front of the recently restored Hackesche Höfe complex, this popular cafe is the perfect copy of a 1920s coffee house. Almost always full, the huge hall is full of movement and voices, decorated with wooden bistro tables, dark green walls and chandeliers. The restaurant section is more conservative: beige wallpaper covered with small golden stars, a beautiful stucco ceiling and bright white tablecloths. The cafe opens at 7am and serves hot food right through until 2am. The new Berlin (almost) never sleeps.
