The Eiffel Tower
Paris just wouldn't be Paris without the Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower). Designed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World Fair, at 300 meters (984 feet) it was then the world's tallest building. Not everyone was happy when it was first built; many considered it an eyesore and wanted it pulled down, but today it is one of the world's most visited monuments. The first and second floors can be reached using the stairs, and elevators take visitors to the magnificent view at the top.
Te Eiffle Tower was very cool, theres so much history to it. Not only that but it is butiful too, its a darck shade of brown (but very nice)!!! what I dislike was how it's alway so crowded there. That make poeple not want to come because it's like you can't even move, but other than that I had a great time and can't wait to visit again!!
(comment back on mine if you agree with me!)
Went on a warm sunny Saturday morning--the busiest time to go. Lines were quite long but moved OK. Time from entering line until getting in an elevator was maybe an hour or so. Went to the second level-top was closed due to too many people. Took the stairs down just for the fun(?) of it. It was fun, I would reccomend it to any 1st time visitor. Don't bother with the extra $$ to go all the way up--2nd level is adequate, the views are fabulous. It was the busiest time of day/week, and we still had plenty of room to move around. Overall a memorable experience.
When I was privileged to see the Eiffel Tower, it was at night. We went up in the elevator and stopped on the second level to view the city. It was just beautiful! I'll never forget it! I did learn that when you go up, the elevator slants in, and when you go down, the elevator slants out! I'd never been in an elevator that did that before!
It was horrible. It's all a lie, what they say about it. It has really fallen into disrepair. You should NOT go. I am not kidding. The guards won' t even let you near. It is a mockery of the USA. I cried, I was so dissapointed.
There is no greater symbol of Paris than the beautiful Eiffel Tower. If you hate waiting in lines (like I do), don't even think of going to the top. Spend the 2 hours you would wait in line making a walking tour around the blocks surrounding the tower. Each direction has beautiful views of the tower. Walk across the street to the north and be able to view the tower from a hill.
This is the landmark of Paris. A must if you are there. If you get there early you won't have to spend much time in the lines. Make sure you don't carry any big bags with you. The prices are reasonable. I got to go all the way to the top and the view was amazing. I highly recommend it.
