Paris Jazz Festival
This annual summer event consists of a series of free concerts, which are staged at the 1,500-seat Espace Delta in Parc Floral, at the heart of the Bois de Vincennes. The concerts take place at 4:30p every Saturday and Sunday. The audience is welcome to relax in a chaise lounge or have a picnic while listening to the music. The program is usually excellent; highlights of recent editions have included performances by artists such as Didier Lockwood, Cesaria Evora and Claude Nougaro.
The music is great and the park is very nice. You can be anywhere in the park as it is piped some distance from the performance pavillion. When I was there, it was blazing hot, however. It's so popular, that unless you arrive early, you won't get a seat in the pavillion. And you had to walk through mobs of people to find restrooms and a place selling drinks. If you are alone at the park or do not convince someone to hold your seat once you leave it, it will be gone when you return.
But all in all, it's a worthwhile experience if you are into jazz.
