Description

This is a friendly bookstore in the heart of the Latin Quarter that specializes in Canadian authors (French and English) as well as Anglo-American authors. Down in the vaulted cellar is the Canadian Club, a place for everyone interested in Canadian literature and culture to meet over a cup of tea and conversation. Keep an eye out for the cockleshell relief above the door that marks this spot as part of the Pilgrim's Way. This shell, a symbol of Saint James, once lined the path of the faithful, all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain. Ask for a calendar of author's signings and readings.

While strolling around the Latin Quarter I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Abbey Bookshop. I was immediately drawn in by the stacks upon stacks of books visible from the street. The staff and owner were very helpful and friendly...even offering freshly made coffee. I found this shop much more enjoyable and charming than Shakespeare & Co. That is another marvelous shop but not nearly as charming as this one. I will definitely put this on my list of places I will stop by again when I return.

great place that you can only find in Europe. tiny bookstore with a soul.a must to see.once you there, you will have to buy something- they have loads of titles!

The Abbey Bookshop is a wonderful spot. There's a huge selection of books and the owner is great at helping with selections. It's on a charming little street close to everything. I can't imagine spending time in Paris without stopping by.

The best English bookshop in Paris!!!

I love this shop because you can get lost in it. I love the clutter and the amazing amount of titles that there are in such a small space. And Brian, the owner, is a great guy. Fun to talk to and always up for a chat. I lived in Paris for 3 years and miss it, and I miss this shop!
