Cafe de Flore

Description

An historical landmark in Paris since 1890, this cafe was a favorite of many great 19th-century writers and artists. French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre always took his coffee and croissant on the terrace. These days you can drop in for a quick snack or glass of Champagne having shopped-till-you-dropped in the district's luxurious boutiques. The smart set that revels in the cafe's upmarket style insures that its reputation lives on.

A place to visit while in Paris
By ,
I liked the atmosphere and the courtesy of the people. Being my visit to Paris a dream come true this place is really awsome and while in Paris it is a must place to come to and I definitely recommend it.

worst service in my life
By ,
Great location and athmosphere to sit and relax because of it's history and fame but bad service and wrong attitude to tourists ruins all. Not even a "Merci" or smile from waiters. We have been treated like enemy not a paying customer. Bad experience for me so unfortunately I wouldn't advice anybody to visit the Cafe de flore.

Terrible for tourists
By ,
As an American tourist my wife and I were repeatedly insulted by the staff. We found hair in our Tablier. Terrible service. Terrible staff. Terrible visit.

Excellent
By ,
I prefer Les Deux Magots very nearby, but the Flore is certainly very nice. The covered outdoor seating salvages a rainy day when Deux Magots is packed. Expensive, aloof waitstaff, wonderful coffee and pastries. Paris!! More emotion and interest is to be found at Deux Magots, but the menus are different; try both, definitely!

Historic but overpriced
By ,
After a week in Paris, we came to this storied cafe for lunch. Yes, the location is beautiful, clean and well taken care of. The food was fresh but very overpriced - two salads, a glass of wine and mineral water cost us 50 euro for lunch! And in this city of delicious food, they provided only bottled salad dressing! Clearly this place is resting on its past glamour.

Nice place for people watching
By ,
This St Germain cafe is one of the best places to hangout and people-watch in the city. Like many others, this place has a lot of history behind it. When you are sitting outside in winter, do remember to order the house drink - hot grog - to warm you up.
