Brasserie de l'Isle St-Louis
The little Ile Saint-Louis, always one of Paris' most beautiful and prestigious neighbourhoods, has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. Come down for a glass or two in an authentic old Paris district, surrounded by a few tourists and a lot of locals, in this hospitable and youthful establishment where the prices are pretty good as well. You will be able to try specialties from Alsace, like the typical Sauerkraut with Alsace wine.
This was the most memorable meal in my entire trip. Unpretentious environment, friendly service and the best traditional French food you could have for the price, all with one of the most idyllic views in the center of Paris. Will never forget it!
This is one of the few places we found in Paris that left us truly wanting to return. It's the one I think about whenever I'm planning to find a French restaurant in another country.
When next in Paris, it is the first place I'll go. There are no reservations.
From the weathered wood furniture to classic fittings like the imposing espresso machine at the bar, this place gives diners a great ambience. It can be a bit noisy when crowded, but that, too, is a part of cafe life.
Unlike another reviewer, we found the service to be superb -- and colored by waiters who have enough of a sense of humor to carry on with you a bit...or more.
Don't miss it. Highly, highly recommended.
in this very touristic but beautiful area, this place is still authentic, independant and owned by the same family for over 60 years. Excellent traditionnal food for that price, fun old fashion waiters, wonderful terrasse... A poetic and romantic " out of time" brasserie, nothing has changed here since a hundred years except for credit cards that are accepted!
After spending quite some time working our way from Sainte-Chapelle to Notre Dame, we crossed the little bridge to find Brasserie de l'Isle St-Louis on the left, at the foot of the bridge. What a find! Great Coq au Vin, delicious Cassoulet, nice, reasonably priced Brouilly, mango sorbet that tasted more like mango than mangoes and a terrific gateau, all for just over 60Euros! Can't wait to go back.
