Nos ancêtres les Gaulois, Paris

My senior year of high school we took a trip to Paris, and our tour company offered an optional,"Gaul Meal" cost was $79, don't know why? huh,oh well. The buffet was good, but most places in Paris have that style of buffet, though the Paté was pretty good!, I had the Duck Kebabs! Pretty good, Id never had it that way, the assortment of cheeses was absolutely awesome, tried each one, the wine was exceptional you get a whole wooden jug, the dessert which was a frozen lemon peel with a sorbet type filling was awesome, the man with the guitar even sang Aux Champs Elysee for us!!

We met friends, other tourists, there for dinner (Oct. 2008) and we were soooooooooo disappointed. We had just a few nights to dine in PARIS and spent it at this place???? Don't make our mistake. Buffet of very fatty pork sausages and pate, unlimited red wine that was fair in quality and the main course was ....well why continue? Choose another place.

This restaurant is a knock- off of the place next door, "The Sargent Recruiter" (that used to be really good and fun) until they remodeled, and this place copied it. A set menu,two choices. You do get a lot of food for the money. Not French dining. Wine is included.

my husband and i were there 10 years ago because his brother from denmark had said it was a great place to experience.we had a great time and knew we would return on our next trip to france. my husband is from france, so we try to visit often. we just returned from a 2 week visit in paris with another couple. we went because it was their 50 year anniversary and our 24 year anniversary, our special day was first, so we decided to go to the gaulois. the 4 of us had so much fun. we are not young ones, but really had a great time. actually we had so much fun that we decided to go back again on our friends special day. i do not understand how anyone can say that the sausage was fatty, or the pate fatty, or the meat not cooked well. when you are in another country you have to be open to the menu there. if you are not. you do not belong there. we all enjoyed the menu and the service we were to go back for a third visit, but sickness prevented it. as for the price, we thought it was very fair. we also loved the idea of salad in a basket. i would go there again in a heartbeat. i wish we had a restaurant in tampa like the gaulois. i would also love to have the recipe for the pate that they served. also the bread was soooooo good.and the baked potato was also great. i do not see how anyone can say bad things about the gaulois.
