Cantine des Gourmets (La)
Micheline Coat, a former colleague and longtime friend of many ministers in the previous government, welcomes the Parisian political fraternity in style. Jean-François Rouquette (Christian Constant's ex right-hand man at the Crillon) proves himself a talented whizz in the kitchen. Try his Clams au Gratin with thyme and salted butter, Pan-Roasted Fillet of Red Mullet with olives, or rabbit with aromatic herbs and spinach gnocchi.
Looking forward to the next dining experience there!

Our stay was at the Hotel La Bourdonnais next door which made the location even more convenient. A quiet restaurant serving in a gentle way an elegent clientelle without any airs or pretensiousness. The lighting and mirrors beckoned any romantic. The divine food was served by a pleasant and patient service staff considering our French was lacking at best. We opted for the chefs choice, a prix fix four course meal. Every course was as delectible to feast your eyes upon as it was to eat. And it drew you into the next. One of our dining highlights and highly recommended.
It's okay but nothing to write home about, I have dinned there only once, and tho the service was friendly it was a bit slow. for the rest--cuisine, presentation, ambience, and creativity only fair. Paris should be an unforgettable dinning experence. this just wasn't.
Yes, I was in love with this girl. Still am. Perhaps it was that, perhaps the way the soft, pastel lights seemed to make Her shine. Maybe the topic of the evening, the look of 'is this guy for real ?', perhaps Her happiness at all of it, just Her and I...oh, sorry, a review?? Good, try this one: My school French was well received. The staff elegant, accomodating, treating us both with impeccable care. One look, understanding, quietly placing us at a corner table, as private as possible. The menu selection a dream. A Beaujolais which was fresh, light, seductive. The food (fish, thats what She loves) nothing short of a composition. The plate looked like one of those prize winners at culinary arts competitions. Please, dont touch. It goes on. From the appetizer to dessert, a delight for the senses. The service was felt, never heard. Glasses were refilled with perfect timing, at no time was there anything but a perfect dance. Yes, there was love. A lot of it. Still is. But, being European born and having travelled widely, THIS was a rare, rare treat. I think perfection is something we have to wait for. The experience at 'La Cantine es Gourmets' was close. I remember it vividly, clearly and affectionately.
