Grande Cascade (La)

Description

Near the Longchamp racetrack, Jean-Louis Nomicos settled in this beautifully decorated Napoleon III style restaurant. Alain Ducasse's 'disciple' revamped the traditional cuisine and now creates excellent dishes such as risotto with squid in squid ink; bass marinated in lemon juice and hot pepper sauce cooked à la plancha; macaroni stuffed with foie gras and gingered pineapple for dessert. Decor, service and cellar are the stuff of dreams!

One of my favorite restuarants in the World
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/8/07
This is a total experience. There are a few restaurants in Paris where the food is better, but great food without the ambiance is not a night to remember for the rest of your life. The setting is to die for and makes you feel like it was worth it to put on your party outfit. You will not forget your time at Grand Casade. Enjoy!

Fabulous! A Must Do!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/06
This restaurant is a must go to! The ambiance is very Alice in Wonderland, and the food is top notch! Went there with a group of people before the horse racing, had a fantastic meal, great wine, and a very memorable experience.

By Sally, 5/22/08
On entry through a rather unpleasant garden after drivig 15 mins out of town . . .suspected something was not quite right. The staff were friendly and service was great. The restaurant smelt like an old peoples home (stale and musty)the reason for this well, its full of old people and needs a new carpet!!!

Great for Business Dinner for Executives
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/07
We picked La Grande Cascade as a venue for a special dinner with a group of important customers and the senior manager's of our company. The service was impeccable, the food excellent and overall the ambiance was superb. We used one of the private dining rooms for the 40 delegates, which was beautifully set up on arrival with our seating plan all in place exactly as requested. The staff were fully briefed on our expectations, managed their service to our indicated timings but without making us feel rushed or in anyway like we were having a large group dinner. Our delagates were from all over the world and used to nice venues and great food - so not the easiest to impress. However they were all very impressed with their experience at La Grande Cascade.

Good but still disappointing
By Roger, 11/18/05
The service and ambience were excellent and totally suitable for the occasion, my 60th birthday dinner. However the menu was disappointingly brief and the food although good was not commensurate with expectations and the prices charged. Unfortunately one main meal came with blood even when we had ordered it specifically with 'No blood' so that person ate when the rest of the party had finished. All the meals were of a very good quality but nothing really outstanding compared with many top restaurants worldwide where prices give much better value for money. So my view is that it is the ambience and service that you are paying extra for, resulting overall in my assessment of below average value for money . A memorable evening and dinner but more for the slight disappointment rather than a wonderful dining experience.
