Pipo Socca

Description

If you fancy trying some regional specialties, check out Nice's best Socca (a kind of soft crêpe made from chickpea flour). The socca are never too greasy, which is the main problem with most store-bought varieties. Wine is available by the glass and there is a good home-made Tiramisu that is worth saving room for. Unfortunately the restaurant does not take reservations and as it is often full—it is a good idea to get here early, or be prepared to wait!

the best socca in nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/18/09
if u want to try the REAL deal, the real socca, then there is no way around chez pipo. the athmosphere is great, it gets really busy at night though and after 8pm people start lining up for tables. the socca comes in single (2,50 euro) or double (5,10 euros) portions, but i advice to always get the double. its not that big! and start with some tapenades, they r homemade and great. waiters r fast and you really get the right value for what u pay. i just love that place...

a unique french eaterie
By Suzy Norman, 10/3/05
well, i have to say, i didn't know it was a fixed menu place (my husband did but he didn't tell me) so when they bought out some french toast i thought this was a complimentary appetiser. Then they brought out the Socca, delicious but i thought this was a starter too so when they proceeded to bring out the desert menu i was surprised. However the food was delicious and cheap and certainly a petite bonne heure. Everyone was french which is a good sign and the blonde waitress is kind and will speak English. you must try this place! the building is old and attractive, there is a fire oven inside, set just off the main marina.
