After wandering round the narrow alleyways of Vieux-Nice, you will come across this little restaurant located near the Palais de Justice and Cours Saleya. And what is so special about Tire Bouchon? It tries to make the style of cuisine particular to the city of Lyon known to the people of Nice, and it works! The dishes are truly succulent, scrupulously prepared, and you can order them again as much as you like, and the prices are as welcoming as the waiting staff!

Superb romantic venue

I have been to Nice several times and eaten in several restaurants, generally the food in Nice in terms of value and quality is very good. I took the girlfriend to the TB for her birthday, 6 Th March 2008. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself is cosy and intimate ( I had a table in the front room Cours Saleya side), but with plenty of space beteewn tables, the food was fantastic, French style. The waitress was attentive and friendly, the decor typically french, candles on tables, white table cloths, subdued lighting. I travel widely around the world, and eat out three or four times per week on my company expenses and can honestly say this was one of the best dining experiences I have had. I paid almost three time this amount (110 Euro including 35 Euro for wine) in the Waldorf Astoria two weeks ago. This place was better.

Romantic and delicious..
By ThomasH, 10/26/07
We stumbled across Le Tire-Bouchon while strolling through the narrow streets and alleys of Nice. It was still early for dinner but we asked if there might be a table available without a reservation. Not only did we get a table, but we got one of the best dining experiences during our Nice holiday. The restaurant is very traditional done in reds with mirrored walls. The service was terrific. Our waitress was extremely friendly, very attentive and helpful (and didn't even snicker as I mangled the order in french). The food was was delicious. Very french and very good! My lamb stew was to die for and my wife's ostrich was tender and juicy. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone and we can't wait to return.

"and still champion"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
It had been two years since our last visit to this intimate restaurant and if anything, the experience was even better. This was a wonderful meal from the "suprise taster" to dessert. The tornedo's de bueff were exquisite and the lamb unbelievable. The vegetable mix on the plates were interesting and delicious. We tried what I would call a miniture souffle (chocolate) and an apple cruble full of apple and fesh berries with flavors of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. As always the service was inpeccable. You must have a reservation. this restaurant does not depend on tourists as it has a very large local clientel. we experienced this meal september 2007.

Recommend highly!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/06
This restaurant serves fantastic food, excellently prepared and beautifully presented. The fixed-price menu at 29 Euros for three courses (plus a Kir as apèritif) is well worth the price. Located in the center of the old town of Nice, the ambiance is very pleasant and the friendly staff service give good service without being in any way pushy. I definitely will go back the next time I am in Nice.

Romantic brasserie with excellent service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/08/06
We visit Nice four or five times a year and Le Tire Bouchon is always on our list of must-visit restaurants! A hidden gem located on rue Prefecture just behind the Palais de Justice, the cuisine at le Tire Bouchon is largely based on specialities from the region such as cassoulet (the best I have ever experienced!) but there as some great variants on other French classics. My particular favourite is their fabulous homemade pate de foie gras (best enjoyed with a glass of chilled sauternes). You can eat three delicious courses for a mere 28 euros and there are wines at good prices. On our last visit, we settled for a chateauneuf de pape (rouge) as we were in the region of the Rhone and it did not disappoint! The staff are always friendly and the manageress is a delight. We've been going to this restaurant for 5 years and we can't wait to go again in April 2006!

Can't wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/06
This restuarant is a truly fantastic find. A little more expensive than other restaurnts in the area (28 euro for 3 courses) but worth every penny. Great fish and duck. Fantastic apple and red berry crumble. Definitely worth a visit

Le Tire Bouchon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/04
Starter of scampi with leeks in a white wine sauce was delicious. Had the cassoulet to follow and the meat was very tender, but the dish as a whole has far too many beans (but that is apparently) normal. Had a bottle of Brouilly which cost about 20 Euros and was very thin and overpriced. Generally though, worth a visit. Very pleasant surroundings and very pleasant Manageress.
